I Called, But You Did Not Come
I called, but you did not come
Why oh why did you run and run?
I reached out to you day and night
Only to see you continually take your flight
See, there can only be one place with Me
Hidden from the cares and the lures and the debris
Found only by those who hear My voice
Enriching those who have made their choice
But you, I called, and you did not come
Excuses you made, one by one
Making your lists, dashing to the left and right
Closing your ears and thickening your sight
Letters I wrote, you did not care to read
Only thumbing through them when you felt the need
Pages unheeded and dismissed away
Thinking that there would be another way
Books aplenty line your shelves
Flirting with knowledge, but wisdom fails
Can you not see that you have fallen away?
Return to Me and I will show you the way
Turn now at My Reproof and see My Mercy flow
I long to hold you, My Love for you to know
But I know the direction you will fully go
You cannot say that I did not call out, and that I did not tell you so
I called, and again, you shook your head, and would not come
So I left you alone, and watched you even harder run
Oh, such folly that men trust in, and wind up lost in the end
With these I turn away from and will no longer contend!
Many will seek out and desire to find
Peace of heart and clarity of mind
Vanished from the earth these gifts will be
Found only in those that heard and answered Me
Uncommon wisdom and strength within and without
My Treasuries opened and through them pouring out
Flowing freely, given out to whosoever will
Signs in the earth, unheeded, come more rapidly still
How I desired that men would have wanted Me more
Setting their own course that now plays out in war
Still, My Witness remains, and it will sound till the end
Hastening the battle for the hearts of all men
